MY19 vRS Background Lighting...

Featured Replies

I'm sure I remember reading amongst the many rumours leading up to the MY19 that the background lighting function was getting an improvement in the respect that the different driving modes could have an assigned colour. In theory meaning you could set eco to green, normal to blue and have it switch to red when enabling sport mode.

Could any of the new owners confirm if this is the case or not? It would sow a seed of hope that it might be something that could be enabled by VCDS on my original 245...

Nothing like this on MY18 vRS for sure.

You can certainly change the colour of the background lighting and the ambient/door lighting but it doesn't change with the different driving modes unfortunately

Thats a shame, my 2014 Leon FR would change colour between eco, normal and sport being selected as the drive mode. With sport being red of course.

Yep, I know mine can't do it already

Confirmed in an actual MY19 car?

I’ll check on my MY19 tomorrow

I've just checked in my MY19 VRS. Under Ambient Lighting there are options for Off, Manual and Automatic.

When in automatic the ambient colour changes to Green when in Eco Mode, or Red when in Normal, Sport or Individual. I couldn't find a way to change the colour for any of the modes, although it must be possible through VCDS.

I would have expected green for Eco, Red for Sport and maybe White for Normal with a choice under Individual.

So it does work on MY19, but feels like it's not been done very well.

Apologies,  mine is a MY18. Can do all the colour changing stuff but nothing changes automatically

Thanks for taking the time to look. As you say, seems to be a slightly disappointing offering with limited functionality if it's only changing between eco and 'any other mode'. I am at least less upset about not having it on my MY18 car though!

Engine off on my19 is white but follows what @SimonD316 says on my my19 for the rest.

My MY19 VRS is

Eco - green

Comfort - blue

Normal - red

Sport - red

Individual - green (this one could be taken from the manual setting)

Seems like something a software update could fix.  Anyone know how to report it?

In Module 09 - central Electrics I have found "Ambientelicht Zuordnung der Farbe zum Fahrprofil" which tyranslates as "Ambientlight Assignment of the color to the driving profile" so I'm guessing it's programmable with OBDEleven or VCDS for sure. I shall have a play with this as soon as I have some spare time and report what I find.

Bonjour,
je suis intéressé aussi

I have tried this on my MY18 VRS 245 and it works with the following changes,

I couldn't find Ambiente_Farbwahl_Individual -> 1 (Default 7), but I did find 'Ambiente Fahrprofil individual' & I changed this from 0 to 1, before I did this the car did not remember the colour from the driving mode.

For my colours I used the following,

Fahrprofil 0 (coming/leaving home)-2 (White)

Fahrprofil 2(Normal)-7 (Dark Blue)

Fahrprofil 4 (sport)-1 (Red)

Fahrprofil 5 (Eco)-10 (Green)

Fahrprofil 7 (Individual)-1 (Red)

So when I open the car the LEDs are white, as soon as I turn on the ignition they switch over to whichever colour the driving mode is set in, I have to select which colour for which mode using OBDEleven, I cannot do this on the touchscreen. I can, of course, select manual and the colour stays as selected in all modes or switch to auto and then the colours change as detailed above. Not sure if there could be a further mod' to allow touchscreen colour linking, can the MY19 cars do this?

Mind the colour list above in the original post, its for a Golf 7.5.

Credits to the original contributors who posted this, I've just copied their good work.

Merci @vfrguy
J'essai dès demain!

Bonne chance!

Fahrprofil 0 (coming/leaving home)-: 3 Dark Orange

Fahrprofil 2(Normal)- 7 (Dark Blue)

Fahrprofil 3 (sport)- 4 (Red)

Fahrprofil 5 (Eco)- 9 (Dark Green)

Fahrprofil 7 (Individual)- 4 (Red)

Pour les couleurs:

1 : White

2 : Orange

3 : Dark Orange

4 : Red

5 : Pink

6 : Violet

7 : Dark Blue

8 : Blue

9 : Dark green

10: Green

Hi

First post so be gentle - I have just got my 69 plate vrs estate, the colour in "individual" is configurable through the onscreen settings.

Eco - Fixed green

Normal - Fixed red

Sport - Fixed red

Individual - Configurable , I currently have it set in blue.

Ok. But my car dosent have drive mode selection..

  • 1 year later...

Hello everyone,

tried anyone enable it via VCDS? Or is it only for newest MIB?

Brgds,

Also, anyone know if I can get more colour options via OBDeleven?

Yup, both VCDS and OBDeleven should be able to increase it from 10 to 30 colours or just change the original 10 :)

edit:

There are some options here:
