Front wiper problem

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I got into may car this afternoon and there was light rain. I am positive that the first phase of the front wiper was working perfectly as I had to ajust the wiper speed cos it was that annoying rain that is not too light but not heavy enough if you get me.

However I got into the car this evening to go to footy and low and behold the first phase is no longer working, just the 2nd and 3rd phases. The car is not even two weeks old so I am a bit worried. I changed my CD player to a Kenwood, upgraded my headlight bulbs and put Supagard in the interior and exterior so I am confident this is not a fault on my part. Anybody have any idea what the problem is? Surely if it was the fuses or the motor then the wipers would be out completely.

I would appreciate a bit of advice before I call at the dealer.

I'd check the fuses and the bonnet is fully shut. As you say, it seems unlikely if only one phase of the intermittent isn't working, but it's best to cover yourself to avoid embarrassment in front of the dealer if it's something that simple :D

Chris

Have you had the bonnet open recently? If it's not closed properly the bonnet switch causes a fault that stops the intermittent wipe mode working, strange I know but it's happened to me and many others I believe, a quick search of the forum will show.

Problem sorted. Turns out the bonnet wasn't closed properly. Thanks for the advice as it saved me the embaressing trip to see the dealer.
