Hi all, 2005 Octavia 4x4 estate running fine but have occasional fault with fuel gauge dropping right down and warning light coming on.

Always seems to be after doing a few miles and pulling over ,first time I noticed it was when pulled over to reset my  satnav but was 

on a bit of a hill so thought nothing of it but this has now happened four or five times,never when driving,always when stationary.....any ideas???

On my MK1 I had to strip the sender unit a few times and clean up the carbon tracks and reset some pre-load on the wiper arm, eventually swopped it out for another one because the faults kept recurring, the worst was when it did not drop and I ran out of fuel a couple of times, no warning light, my fault for not paying attention.
