2010 Octavia Aux Port / Bluetooth audio issues

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

So I have a 2010 Octavia. Basically, I want to play my android phone through the car radio but my 2 options though have the following issues -

  • Bluetooth - only comes through drivers side. Doing some reading this is as it's supposed to be as it's only really for drivers calls. Can I upgrade to play through all speakers as normal without breaking the bank? Any suggestions on how I can do this myself even?
  • Aux input - located in the armrest between the front seats. Doesn't work. After some reading, I learned that it's not normally connected as standard and the lead should just be hanging there underneath. So I removed the casing around it and it wasn't connected, I connected it, but still nothing. Some stuff online leads me to believe that VCDS software needs to be connected and the aux enabled? Is that something I can do myself?

Any idea for options that won't break the bank or something obvious above that I'm not doing?

Thanks in advance

Bumping this if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks

To get stereo bluetooth, you probably need to add an extra wire for the other channel between the BT module and headunit.

If the aux is factory fitted, it would have worked originally. Sounds like a previous owner has done some messing about if it was disconnected.

Ideally, you should get an autoscan with VCDS or similar as that might give some clues. In the mean time you should check the wiring is correct.

Thanks for the reply. In terms of 'add an extra wire for the other channel between the BT module and headunit.' How difficult is that? A bit of googling and can't come across any pictures. Even in terms of 'a wire', I'm not sure what that means.

Thanks

Actually have found info on how to remove the radio -

So if someone can explain the WIRE part, how or what to connect so the Bluetooth comes out the 2nd speaker that'd be amazing.

Thanks

I wouldn't say it's hard, it depends if you're any good at running new wires...

BT pinout is here: https://www.my-gti.com/173/volkswagen-skoda-bluetooth-pinouts

You probably have wires in pins 8 and 9 but nothing in pins 4 and 9.

On the headunit side, the pinout will be similar to this:

You'll probably have wires in pins 6 and 12 (labelled above as TEL R+/R-) but nothing in 5 and 11 (labelled above as TEL L+/L-).

To get stereo, add the missing wires as per the comment on my-gti:

Quote

BT pin 4 (Audio RF Signal Out +) connected to headunit pin 11 (TEL L+)
BT pin 5 (Audio RF Signal Out –) connected to headunit pin 5 (TEL L-)

You can get the correct crimps from Skoda or make a repair wire longer, I think the part number is 000979009 but you should check.
