Boot Open warning while driving

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Just last week while it was raining quite badly we were driving back from work when the boot open warning starting flashing on the dashboard :O and after some time followed by the interior lights turning on. We stopped four times in total and kept opening and closing the boot to make sure it was closed properly.

However after getting an appointment with Skoda today, they have reported no faults found. Which is great however I am concerned it hasn't been diagnosed properly. I did a quick VCDS scan on the day error popped up but nothing came up on the scan.

After that day the error never came back but could this be a one off fault? On that day the rain was quite bad but wont expect the warning light to pop up on dash or the interior lights to turn onn whilst driving :(

I did a bit of search on here and most are saying a faulty lock or boot solenoid? Whats best way to diagnosis this?

I had this exactly problem on a previous Mk 3 estate.

And just like your dealer they could not find any obvious fault.

They changed the hatch lock which made no difference

As it was due for a service they did a complete update of the system software and that did clear the problem.

Their best guess was that the software had corrupted causing an intermittent fault which did not show up when running a diagnostic check
