Hi all

I have a candy white 2014 vrs estate manual 2.0 and have decided to change a couple of things

I’m after changing the colour of my white wing mirrors to black and also the chrome surrounding front grill to black also.

I’ve discussed different options with different garages ranging from wrapping the front grill and spraying the mirrors  or spraying both. Could also buy the black mirror caps and fit myself (if not too technical)

Price wise I’ve been quoted similar approx £140

Any info much appreciated

Cheers

My white mirrors were replaced for black ones the day I got my VRS. Cost me 40 quid from superskoda. Theres guides about taking the mirrors apart knocking about

I'd swap the grille surround and the mirror caps with the proper ones. Probably won't be much different cost wise.

Changing the mirror caps is very easy, I had to swap my original black caps onto a replacement pair of power folding mirrors and I had them off in seconds. Here’s a link to a post I made about retrofitting the folding mirrors which may help you with removing the caps.

Otherwise, watch this video by SuperSkoda detailing how to replace the LED puddle lights, a mod I’d get on with doing if I didn’t have a bandaged up thumb :crying:

I’d also just break the chrome grill surround off as they are apparently hard to remove and there is no market for them secondhand. The black one will just click back on. My car came with the black pack so I’ve not had to do the grill.

Thanks everyone for your help

Removal of wing mirror caps looks easy so I think I’ll just buy the part for that and do myself. Now thinking to snap off and forego the chrome grill surround and replace with black one instead of spraying or wrapping.

Cheers all

It's a shame superskoda don't do a logo puddle light replacement for this mirror light.

This is something I'd love to do on mine but I'm scared to do so in case I break the glass. He doesn't half rag it off!!

It’s not bad honestly. I practiced on my old mirrors before I broke my thumb so I know it’s not too bad when I do it for real, hopefully in a couple of weeks.

Are you still going on about that?

Yes, it was very very painful and I need to tell everyone about it. A bit like when my Dad has a cold, he has to wander around in a cagoule, telling everyone how ill he is and that he’s dying of man flu

Just an update

Had the wing mirror covers off today just to check it was a simple swap

over - and it was. There’s two clips that need pressing down and then the covers pop off

Regarding the front grill surround, has anyone any experience of removing this and any tips to get it off in situ without taking off the bumper etc? I understand if removing in situ the chrome surround may snap or clips may snap but not too bothered

Cheers

Right, had a go at removing the front chrome grill surround today - what a ******!

Removed the four screws above to get a better view of the mounting clips but the surround is on tight I can tell you. I understand some people snap it off in the process, but I had to be a bit rough and was seriously worried about damaging other parts. In the end I had to abort mission.

I’d love to have seen the video of the guy who changed this part over in 10 mins!

Anyway here’s a shot of the latest wing mirror update plus pressed license plates. Sorry @SashaGraceI copied you on this one lol

Decided to leave the Sasha plate on the Mercedes and put my initials plate on this. Always hated the original plate because it spelled Wizard  So I’ve gone back to gel plates again!
