Activating Lane Assit

Featured Replies

I'm about to buy a sportline/plus superb estate but I can't find one with lane assist. Can you activate it though VCDS? Assuming all the controls are already in the car just not turned on.

You need as a minimum the a5 camera that sits behind the rear view mirror.

How do I tell if I have an A5 camera?

Someone on this forum has tried to enable it and so far failed.

Yea, I've stopped trying for now but will most likely revisit this...

R u planning to activate just lane assist, or also active lane guidance too?

Cause the two r different behaviors.

Solved the problem a different way, dealer I went to yesterday needed a new car sale before 2019 so I've ended up with a 190 dsg L&K estate instead

What's the difference? Cos I just got active lane assist working. Update: the lane guidance is a working part of lane assist.

Lane Assist = keeps the vehicle within the lanes, however it does not steer the vehicle for you.  the driver retains full responsibility for steering, at all times.

Active Lane Guidance = the vehicle actively steers the vehicle for you, including through small curves/bends in the road.  by turning on ALG and ACC, you end up with Traffic Jam Assist (TJA) :)

Excellent, than thats what i have! I assume the TJA is basically Lane assist for slower speeds?

It's actually much better than that. It combines the ACC which accelerates and brakes the car automatically, right down to full stop, depending on what the car in front is doing. It also keeps you in the centre of the lane you are in. It will even set off unaided if the car in front pulls away within a short time after stopping (even if it doesn't, a blip on the throttle or pull of the ACC stalk will move the car). Great feature.
