Cam chain woes already

Featured Replies

Well ive owned my 2009 pre FL early TSI two days and im getting a horrible misfire at around 5k revs on cylinder 2.

Swapped coil packs, plugs and fuel pump is running at 150 bar and fuel rail is holding pressure no probs. it has had the inlet manifold, throttle body and PCV valve all replaced this year. The wiring harness around the coil packs even looks newish as the previous dealer has loads of things replaced.

Did a check on the cam chain and im getting well over 5 degrees out! (see below). I believe at this stage its better not to drive it as I may be dodging a bullet?

Would the cam chain being stretch cause a misfire like that on one cyclinder only

Yes i bought it from a trader / LTD company.

Im getting it looked at by my local VAG indy garage tomorrow and see what he says. Ill then let the trader know what he says and if he says he doesnt want to know ill just reject it.

If he is willing to pay the majority of the repairs ill stick with it. I noticed a flicker of the exhaust light on the test drive but he dismissed it. I then drove it home 120 miles away so its a bit of a pain to just take back at the mo.
