Can some explain why the unit under the drivers seat doesn't work ? is it an older type that is out of date now and how do I know if the unit I purchase is the correct one thanks

In a 2010 Superb, there is a good chance the BT module only supports "premium bluetooth" also known as rSAP. This effectively removes the SIM card from your phone and turns the car into a phone. This should leave the phone with no signal but assuming everything is working, the BT module will connect to the phone network to make/receive calls and SMS.

Over the years, some phones and SIM cards have had compatibly problems with rSAP which *might* be your issue.

Either a VCDS autoscan or the part number of your BT module would be handy to confirm if this is likely.
