2nd Radiator and Stones!

Featured Replies

I got my new Superb 2.0 Se Tech this March 2018. I'm really pleased with it so far. But has anyone else experienced an issue with a stone/object puncturing the 2nd Rad (as the garage describes it) causing loss of coolant. The dealer garage tells me that if a foreign object confirmed it will not be covered under warranty. Subsequent bill of £615.

I have a bit of a sour taste now and cannot really understand why the design of the vehicle doesn't protect this soft material from such an event. It may be that there is a grill available to prevent future occurrences, I don't know but I would be only too pleased for any input on this

Two rads in less than a year is very bad luck indeed.

Cannot say I have read of any similar issues on Briskoda.

In Australia we get some big insects so I have put some fibre glass flywire over the grills of my Octavia  so stop them damaging the soft rad fins.

Not pretty but discrete enough to stop stones and locusts from getting through the grill.

Important when you may be a few hundred kays from the nearest garage ;)
