you can download the maps you need to buy it and once the sd card is used it locks to your car. first we need to know what version you have

Press SETUP and hold about 10 sec. On screen choice "Versions"

RNS 310 have only 3 information lines :

    1    Part number
    2    Software versions
    3    System hardware versions

RNS 315 have 5 information lines:

    1    Part number
    2    Software versions
    3    System hardware versions
    4    Navigation data: part number
    5    Navigation data: version number

also when its says navigation data what version is it.

So it only has 3 options not 5?

3T0035192H relates to an Amundsen Plus unit. There should be maps already loaded onto the unit and saved in the internal memory, and a new version of maps can be installed/saved with a new card.

Turn the centre knob to scroll down and see further options.

0038 is fairly old, as they now number them in V number format. Latest is V11, previous V10, and the last stable one is V9 (V10 and V11 can cause the unit to become unstable and shut down/reboot constantly).
