Columbus Single Slot CD player not working

Featured Replies

I have a 2010 Superb Elegance Estate and the CD player suddenly stopped working a few days ago.

I've tried various CD's and a couple of DVD's but each time it looks like it's loading it but it doesn't do anything.

The rest of the unit seems okay as the SD Card slot, radio and Sat Nav work, along with the reversing sensor display screen.

I've tried both the reset through the settings menu and also the hard reset using the three buttons at the top of the unit. I have plugged a fault code reader into it but there are no faults.

Short of removing it and taking it to be tested somewhere I'm out of ideas.

I've thought of getting a CD changer to attach to it but I haven't looked that far into it yet.

Anybody have any ideas??

Have you tried a 'cd lens cleaner' cd
Might be worth a try

It's a dvd drive, not a cd. Diagnostics won't show anything, because they don't talk that deep to the unit.

Anyway, it may be the dvd drive which is faulty, or it may be the radio board not speaking to the drive, hard to say without having it here to test. If you wanna send it up I can have a check over it for you. Replacement prices are in the link in my sig.

The CD lense cleaner will work on DVD players (which can also play CDs). I'm with Delboy - it's a cheap and easy first approach. If it doesn't fix the problem, you still have the cleaner for later use when the lense does get mucky.

Come back to the group and let us know how you get on.
