Octy II Weight differences?

Featured Replies

I've just been looking on Parkers at the spec of different Octavia IIs, hatch and eestate versions. According to that website, depending on trim level and spec the hatchback can weigh anything between 1310 - 1500kg and the estate can be 1295 - 1515kg, and in each case it seems the higher weight is on the lower spec models.

Can anyone confirm if that's correct - surely different kit can't make 200kg of difference between a Classic and an Ambiente, for example?

Cheers!

Are you comparing like for like in terms of engines?

Yep - 1.9TDI manual in both, AFAIK. 103-105hp unless stated?

From what I can see, with a manual PD 1.9 TDi, the pre-fl seem to weight 1500kg:

After the facelift in ~2009, they get much lighter at 1310kg:

To be honest, it wouldn't surprise me if the parkers numbers aren't correct so you might want to check some old Skoda brochures to see if they tally up.

For example, the Jan 2010 brochure shows the manual PD 1.9 TDi hatch at 1385kg but doesn't give per trim level weights. No guarantee even the brochures are actually correct either ;)

They were only 'unladen / kerb' weights of sample vehicles with no optional extras as VW Group gave when 'cheating' EU testing.

This gave the VED bands and official Gross / Revenue weight.

As it was you put passengers and luggage and fill the tank etc. maybe add roof racks tow bars and caravans or trailers.

Best plan is 'drive to the public weigh bridge', full tank of fuel and even a passenger or 3 and see what a car does weigh.
