Race chip Pro 2, CR170

Featured Replies

Has anyone any experience of one of these tuning boxes on a CR 170 engine?

I'm not looking for a debate about tuning boxes v remaps please. ;-)

Just this specific tuning box.

Many thanks. :-)

I have around £100-150 to spend. Seen a couple of racechips for sale and also some dtuk boxes, second hand for this sort of price range. Not after huge gains. Was considering even the basic racechip s brand new may be worth a shot.

Edit

Just noticed a Bluespark box for around £150 with the sort of gains I would be happy with. Anyone with eBay experience of these also?

Hi, if you have a slightly limited budget why not buy a high spec. 3 channel used tuning device from ebay  - always find a good selection at prices less than £150.

Hope this helps?

N.B devices such as following link often appear:  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DTUK-CRD2-Tuning-Box-for-2-0-TDi-170bhp-common-rail-VAG-Audi-VW-Seat-Skoda-/123458458819?hash=item1cbeb294c3%3Ag%3AbS8AAOSwdwVb2phH&nma=true&si=d8lMWmZxFJxOAHgRjVLKiFCfsrI%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Thanks for the info. I don't seem to have found any three channel ones at my price point (yet) they all seem to be 2 channel.

As I say, I'm not looking for huge gains 200bhp and 30-50 torques would be fine.

The racechip s seems good value for just over £100 brand new. But then there's a used race chip Pro 2 that o could have second hand for £100 or less but racechip customer support seems flaky. Then I came across Bluespark dual channel for only £150 brand new which seems to give the gains I am looking for and is in my price range, and has good customer service and support apparently.

Decisions decisions.

Something like that sounds ideal.

I did a bit of digging on here and read some older posts,  and the gains sound really good. However, i don't require or want 220bhp. I assume some of the maps on this type of box will give me less than the 220bhp the box is capable of delivering??

Hi, the more sophisticated the box probably yes the more power but also the more linear delivery of power and might improve engine life!

Well I managed to get a DTUK CRDt box for my CR170 for £70.

Will see how it goes. I read a huge thread on here from when this type of box was new. Seemed like a lot of people rated it so took a punt. Just need to figure out which settings will give a modest increase as I'm not interested in much above 200bhp as I said.

I think you made a good choice.  DTUK have good customer service reputation -  I am not sure if they would update the box software and sell you a wiring loom that fitted into 3 sensors - fuel rail/ maf/ boost/ crankshaft/ rpm - I assume you have a device with the former 2 sensors?

Great price to!

N.B should improve the driving experience all round but especially from take off when the ecu map is designed to emit little emissions no matter what the fuel quality.

It's only a two channel box and as it's the older type there are jumpers to adjust racjer than some buttons or via an app. I have been in touch with DTUk and to be honest they were pretty useless with regards to how much power each specific programme would deliver, which is a shame. I have messaged Andrew from DTUK as I see he is a member here. Maybe he would be able to provide further insight. Anyway. For £70 it's worth a shot. The racechip sounded good initially but reading the long thread on here from some years back regarding the DTUKt box is what ultimately made my mind up.

I run mine on 2+3 and it gives a good gain, if you just want mild run it on 1+1 and take it up from there, I went 1+2, 2+2 then 2+3 bit of a beast in the wet but nice pick up.

Good to know. Thank you. :-)
