Engine not start, depress clutch?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

My wife's 1.2TSi has started to intermittently not start with the clutch warning still displayed with the clutch pedal depressed.

So I'm thinking a fault with the clutch switch.

But where is it? I can't see anything around the clutch pedal or linkage but there are wires going to the Clutch Master Cylinder.

Anyone any ideas?

It's incorporated in the clutch master cylinder, well mine is on my Octavia.

Changed the hall sender on the master cylinder but I'm still having the same issue.

Intermittently the engine wont start and it asks for the clutch to be depressed.

Looks like a dealer job.

Doesn't an OBDEleven scan show anything amiss?

No it doesn't

Does this help?

You may be able to see whether the switch is working and narrow down the possibilities.

Did you ever get this fixed?  I've the same problem with a 2012 Octavia.  Non-dealer has changed the switch on the clutch master but intermittent problem remains.  Now with main dealer who are confused.

Yes, connection issue, connector onto the switch.

Also having this problem after clutch and master cylinder being replaced - took it back to garage who couldn't reproduce. Is the connector up by the cylinder or near the pedal?
