Windscreen bottle warning light

Featured Replies

So the windscreen washer bottle warning lights been on for a while so thought I would have a look found a broken wire at the sensor so took sensor out cleaned it and repaired the wire . But while I had the sensor out and disconnected turned the ignition on only to find the light was out ????? Would have thought it would be on

As I understand it, all  clusters have the low washer fluid indicator light present even though not all Superb II's have the low washer fluid sensor installed. So, I would think that having the sensor removed would default the cluster indicator light to off - otherwise cars without the sensor would have it turned on all the time.

Good point

I bet washer fluid level sensor is just on/off switch ;) so how would ECU know if it is open/off or missing - or always closed and open when fluid level drops ? So it's rather VCDS coding involved - like with HHC - disabled by default even if module can support it.

Or washer fluid level is not checked every time ignition is ON - but only when you try to use it?

The cluster should have coding to enable/disable the washer fluid warning light.

I'm surprised you had different behaviour when fully disconnected and partially disconnected (faulty wire) though. It might have stored an error code rather than illuminating the warning light :/
