Door mounted switches not backlit on 2018 SEL

Featured Replies

My wife has just bought a new Citigo SEL 75PS and we both love it. Just one slight niggle for me: the door mounted controls (electric window switches and mirror adjust and heat are not backlit (whether the headlights are on or not). So when i wanted to demist the door mirrors the other night I couldn't see to turn the rotary switch to the correct position... Are they all like this? My 2017 Superb Sportline 280 definitely backlights its similar door mounted controls at night.

Incidentally, I'm really impressed with how the Citigo rides and handles not to mention the astounding fuel economy. A few days ago we undertook a 40 mile trip with the odometer showing less than 100 miles at the start, two adults and two young children on board. Indicated fuel consumption was 55 mpg and I wasn't even trying to drive economically. In fact, I was exploring the ride/handling envelope to a certain extent commensurate with a) not upsetting anyone on board and b) having some mechanical sympathy for the brand new triple.

I know that when I do this journey in my Superb 280 I'm lucky to achieve 30mpg. Plus, I think that the Citigo (on its 16" optional alloys)  handles potholed and undulating country roads at speed better than my 280 (non DCC) on its 19" wheels does. It just takes a little (ok a lot) longer to get up to speed!

Hi my 15 SE L doesn’t have back lit door switches either.  I have to totally agree with the drive quality - I only got mine on the 31st Dec and drove it straight to London from Glasgow on a full tank!!!

Yeah, none are backlit unfortunately

Many thanks for the replies; at least I now know that ours isn't faulty.

The UP GTI doesn’t even have them

The Polo 6R switch is the same as the Citigo, direct plug and play, I think the Polo switch is back-lit so you could probably retrofit back-lit switches by doing some wiring, I know it doesn't light up if you just plug it in as I have a 6R chrome switch in my Citigo

Soon you will learn where all the switches are and how they work. No need for backlit really. :)
