Rough Road Pack and 18” Braga Alloys

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have just ordered an Octavia Scout and have specced the 18” Braga Anthracite Alloys.

I have also just noticed in the optional extras part of the spec sheets that the Rough Road pack is not available with 18” alloys?!

My question is, has anyone recently had a Scout delivered with the 18” alloys and does it have the rough road protections underneath??

If having the alloys as an extra will mean I loose the underbody protection I will have to stick with standard wheels. Which is weird as the underbody protection kind of makes the scout what it is??

Thanks in advance for any help

I can't see why you can't have the rough road package with 18"s.  There's nothing that interferes into the wheel arch that I'm aware of that would fowl the wheels.

Just bashed a base spec Scout through on the configurator and added the Braga's, it didn't indicate that it would remove the rough road package or that there was any issue in having both.

Have you contacted the dealer and queried it?

Scout always has rough road protection.

But, 18" or 19" definitely isn't in conflict with rough road. I have it as an additional equipment on RS 230, while it was coming out from the factory with 19" wheels.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. 18" will look great on Scout.

Yes I spoke to the dealer and queried it and they seem to think that the rough road pack would be deleted if I have the 18” alloys? I’m not convinced they know what they are on about to be honest.

I am leaving the order as is but just worried it won’t have the underbody protection.

I did did the same and played around on the configuration, nothing pops up to say it removes anything when you add the wheels. However, if you spec up an SE to have the 18” wheels, the rough road pack becomes unavailable in the extras list?!

I dont suppose anyone has pictures of the rough road pack so I can compare. I have seen another Scout (MY18) with the 18” alloys and looked underneath but don’t know what the normal undertray looks like in comparison to the rough rough version.

Al,

I've found this photo on the net:

I really strongly believe Rough road protection is standard on Scout, makes no sense otherwise, regardless of the wheels. I don't know what SE means, but I assume it is not Scout trim anymore? Absolutely makes no sense they are able to put i on lowered vRS with 19" rims, and remove it from the Scout?!

When your vehicle arrives, if you still have any doubts, I will take a pictures of mine below, from whatever angle you desire. Trigger me via @nidza mention in post or via private post.

I've got that on my 1.5 SE L estate, I didn't order it ???  maybe Skoda have seen the roads round here...

Checked configurator again and Rough Road Package is available as an option on the SE L, if you select it then it greys out the 18's and vice versa suggesting you can't have both.

However

Then I selected the Scout and checked options and No Rough Road Package is available to select, this suggests that it's standard equipment. You can also select 18"s and if you do it doesn't indicate that it deletes anything.

I have a Scout and it has the  Rough Road Package on standard wheels.

 Cheers for the replies.

I guess I will have to wait and see when it arrives but I will be really annoyed if it doesn’t have the rough road pack protections.

Hopefully it will be on there and everything will be fine.

I have attached the bit from the spec sheet that has caused the confusion.

Does this look like it’s the rough road pack for those that have it? Or is this just standard underbody protection?  I have other pictures but can only upload one at a time due to size.

This is is a picture of a MY18 Scout with the 18” alloys

Is there a wheel / suspension page above the one you showed ... I'm curious to see what wheels the S comes with as you can't get Rough Road with that but I can't imagine it had 18"s on.

Personally I think the configurator is wrong, I can accept you can't have on VRS due to it being slightly lower than other models but no reason why you can't on an S

It does to me as it's got the side panels between front and rear wheels and the front sump guard.  There are other bits to the Package as well to protect brake lines or so I believe)

Don't worry. Skoda UK marketing at it's best.

The 18" wheel comment against the Rough Road Package in the Pricing & Specification brochure applies to the non-Scout models, as you've seen on the online configurator.

All Scouts, regardless of wheel options, get the Rough Road Package.

If you're likely to need to the Rough Road Package are you sure you want the low profile tyres that come with the Braga alloys. I can't see them offering as much protection in any off-road scenario's?

Sure, they look better, but then that's not necessarily the point of the Scout.

18" vs. 17"...

Cheers for the clarification, I had hoped it would always be fitted to the scout but that statement in the brochure is confusing!

My main concern is tree branches pinging up underneath and protection for a little bit of grounding on grass on slightly deeper parts of the tracks I would be driving it along, I would most likely put some half decent mud tyres on anyway come winter time so I can look at aspect ratio when the time comes :)

It’s not going to go anywhere particularly difficult, it’s more for slippery tracks and inclines in poor weather, I wouldn’t want to drag those lovey Braga anthracite alloys against any rocks!!
