Blinking Glow plug system warning light

Featured Replies

I experienced my first problem today with my Superb 2.0 TDI 150 2016.

Immediately after i started the engine the glow plug system light started flashing yellow. I also got a warning that start-stop was faulty and that the ACC (adaptive cruise control) was faulty.

3 warnings at once.

The owners manual says that a blinking glow plug system warning light indicates that there is something wrong with the engine management system. My car is still under warranty so ill call skoda tomorrow but i am curious of what the problem can be? I mean the car has done 40 000 km. And i find it strange that there was 3 different error messages that doesnt seem to be related to eachother.

I should also mention that the car was in "emergency mode". The engine was extremely weak.

I turned the car off, let it stay for an hour and then turned the engine on again. This time no error messages.

Anyone that has a clue?

If it happens again, no need to wait 1hr. Just tun the car off. Lock / un-lock and it should be fine again from there...

I experienced this numerous times on my 2016 Passat 140TDI Highline (190PS I think)...

VW could not help or explain as there was never an error code...

Just one of those "querks" of ownership I guess.

Needless to say I no longer own that vehicle...

I haven't experienced this on my superb, but similar things happened 4 times on a Hyundai i20 i also drive. 2 times it just wouldn't start, but no warning lights. 1 time it started, but it was running like it had fuel feed problem, no warning lights again. 1 time it wouldn't start but every light was on and it was showing 4000rpm. Every time i turn it off and on again after 10 seconds and everything was ok.

Update:

Left my car at my Skoda service center today since the car is still under warranty. I got shocked when they claimed that they will charge me 150 Euro for troubleshooting?! I of course asked if that is really true since the car is still under warranty and I have done nothing wrong at all with it. I started the car and the glow plugs light started flashing immediately. She claimed that that's Skoda routine.

The car has done 43 000 km and is 2,5 years old. I bought it from a Skoda authorised dealer 2 months ago.

I think that I shouldnt pay anything at all.

What does the crowd here say?

Hi there, and what about the problem did they fix it? I have same problem for couple of months on my Superb 2,0 TDI 190hp 4x4 7DSG Edition 01 2018, 10 000 km now. On Monday it did it actually 3 times. 2 in the morning going to work and one in the afternoon going home.Tuesday and Wednesday no problem.  When this started couple of months ago Skoda checked it and said there is no error code recorded.  They also said that they expect an update of the software of the DPF filter or something like that and that this could help. But till now no body knows when this software update will be available.

Some update from my side as well. Last month a took the car to the dealer. There was an error connected with the turbo recorded. When they started to examine the engine they found warped vacuum tube. Changed it FOC and the problem disappeared.

I also experienced on my Skoda Octavia yesterday flashing glow plug system. Stopped the car for 5 min and didn't appear, but after driving about 4km came back flashing.

Bought the car from a friend one week ago, he did all the regular service and nothing wrong. It is from 2011 and has run 359,000km so far without any major issues.

Did you get a solution :

the glow plug system light started flashing yellow. I also got a warning that start-stop was faulty and that the ACC (adaptive cruise control) was faulty.
