MPG Octavia vs Superb

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any real world experience to compare the motorway MPG between 2.0TDI Octavia DSG and 2.0TDI Superb DSG?

I just gave back my Octy Scout and now have a Superb SL4x4.  Both 2.0tdi dsg.  They seem to be on a par (although I've mostly had it is sport mode)!  It seems better on motorways for consumption, but i've only driven 1250 over 5 weeks, so it's early days.

My 09 plate TDi Vrs dsg averaged 44mpg over 65kmiles

Current Superb (2.0tdi dsg) is averaging 48mpg over the last 25k, once got 75mpg on a M3, M25 & M1 drive

That's impressive! So would you say it'd be a safe bet to average 60mpg+ during normal motorway driving for the Superb?

I think it really depends on style of driving, conditions, tyres etc. However in Economy mode with boring/very sensible motorway driving i've had averages of 60mpg+ over an hour drive with a 2.0TDI Manual Superb 4x4.

If you are talking about the 150hp 2WD versions then I'd say there would be very little difference in consumption from identical power/transmission units, especially on a motorway.

However the Superb is noticeably larger, inside and out, has a superior multi-link rear suspension (Octavia is equipped with basic torsion bar).

The only plusses for the Octavia are probably cheaper price and size better suited to urban maneuvering and parking.

However if you get the diesel vRS Octavia with more power output then that is equipped with multi-link rear suspension but the consumption on that version is generally reported to be heavier.
