Hello everyone, new user here!

I own a Octavia mk1 2003 and i'm having some electrical problems.

The cooling fans run constantly, and the strangest problem i have is i can take the key out of the ignition but i can still roll the windows down and use the wipers!

I talked to some car electrictian and he said i probably have some fried relays but he said he wouldn work on that.

Iirc correctly, the windows thing is normal. They should work until you open a door. If they still work after the door is opened, something is goosed.

Wipers maybe the same, i cant remember.

 

Cooling fans constantly running has been covered many times, cant remember the common cause, as it never affected my car, might have been a secondary air pump thing.. or something totally different.

Thanks for the reply, forgot to mention that the central locking is out also, atleas with the key buttons.

Just found a capable electrician nearby who loves old tdis, taking it in for a checkup tommorow morning.

Will report how it went!

@SLOctavia2003 - You don't state a trim level. Fans running at all times is normal if you have Climatronic, or have manual AC turned ON.

The trim level is Elegance i think. I have ckimatronic but it is turned off all the time.
