vRS anti roll bar UPGRADE options.

Featured Replies

Hello from Czech Republic!

Octy vRS 1.8T, Stage 2, 175Kw /350Nm

I recently did major suspension refresh to Koni STR.T shocks + HR Sport lowering springs - 20mm + full silentblocks from Audi TT. Before i got there TA TECHNIX coilovers which had been very hard a lower approx 3cm more than the car is now.
On the KONI + HR setup, comfort goes to the roof, but the car have a lot more understeer in the corners, also bodyroll is a lot more present. So now im looking on the ways how to reduce roll and get the car to the neutral behave again (before it always slip neutrally, no understeer or oversteer was present). I was used to go very hard in the corners and now im a bit unsure to do that, because she just kneel on the front and start understeering .

What options do i have now? Stronger anti-roll bar? If yes, which one i should go to fit and it plug and play?

Can ARB from Audi TT or R32 golf fit there right? vRS have different ARB than normal ones, and as i was looking almost all brands like HR and EIBACH dont make ARB for vRS OCT 1. Mine one is 19mm thick.

Also there is a question, if the stronger ARB help my problem, or i have to go lower and buy KONI sport which is more firm (i dont like that solution, because of budged which i already spent on new STR.T and HR springs).

Thank you for your responses.

Most people go for whiteline RARB - You could sell your new suspension and buy  koni sport?

Selling the suspension is the option, but honestly i want to explore other ways. The car is daily and i cannot let it on jacks longer than few days. Plan is to try the stronger ARBs, and see how the car behave on summer tires (18/225/40). Right now im on winter ones (16/205/60). I can sell the setup after summer ...

Interesting, after cca 500 miles the suspsension setup settle a bit lower and the ride is waaay more firm. Also i had to learn the car again, it's behaving way more different (have to be more precise in the apex hitting and work more with steering wheel --> microcorrections needed. Slowly but surely im getting to the better times on the laps than before. Cannor wait to the summer to switch to 18 / 225 forged alloys with conti sportcontacts, right nnow im sure that after ARBs fitted, the 16/205 winter tyres will be the limiting factor.

Anyway, set of eibach antiroll kit 22mm(adjustable) F / 25 mm R, will be fitted next week. looking forward for the difference.

So, after 4500km with Eibach arbs fitted.
The car behavior rapidly changes. It have very fast steering reaction, understeer is completely gone. On summer pilot sport 4 tyres (18/225) the car is way more faster trough corners. Very funny lift off oversteer sometimes (which car scare unexperienced driver to death).

However, there is issue with squeeking/clamping sound in low speed turning. Anybody experienced this? I already regresed the bushings, but it still doing that sound, especially when the car is standing still and i turn the wheels to the lock (f.e. when parking), or at very low speeds.
