Fuel gauge working backwards after cluster change

Hi guys,

I have searched this problem for weeks but haven't found anything.

I have a 1.9 ASZ fabia and I changed my cluster with one from a 1.4 tdi.

The problem is now the fuel gauge is working backwards,when the tank is full it shows empty and viceversa.

The car has immo off so everything else works.

Do i need to code the cluster?

They changed the fuel gauge sender unit to work the other way around after about 2004. You would need the correct sender. 

 

You can see here how they changed the resistance tracks. They are an almost mirror image of each other, which explains why the gauge would read backwards....
