Can the boost pressure control valve be exchanged separately ?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

My issue is after diagnostics on OBDII it revealed faultcode P2563, both a mechanic error on the boost pressure control valve and an unplausible signal on the boost pressure sensor. The engine is the 2.0 TDI CR CUPA for the RS TDI (stock135kw). Turbocharger is PNR 04L253056P. I'm not a technician and my dealer says on this specific garrett loader, you can't exchange the control valve individually. So no repair kit and ordering a reman/new turbo ! Is this correct cq. what do you specialists adivse me to do here ?

Thanks !

Answers to tech questions on here are never plentiful. I have just had the same failure and mine was replaced as a complete turbo unit under warranty

It could be obviously, as it was built up by components in the first place. Like most things these days its dumbed down to replace whole modules including the turbo unit which includes the Waste Gate Activator, plus makes more money which is far more important to them. It is bolted onto the side and doesn't look as easy to change as old mechanical versions. But turbo specialist will easily be able to replace it, maybe as an exchange unit or repair yours.

To add, it could be the waste gate or the actuator so a specialist turbo repair centre is likely your best bet.

Thanks for the fb, I've managed to find a turbo specialist that wanted to sell me the (revised) actuator seperately for a really moderate cost (100 € !) better than a new turbo, no longer under warranty, for appr. 2.000 €...
