Hi... Forgive the pun !! Could anyone shed some light please, before I book it in under warrany, would this be a sensor fault ? Works ok with headlights switched  on. 2018 Citigo colour edition MPI . Thanks

 

They don’t as far as I am aware. Lights on = dash lights on. It serves as a nice traditional reminder actually

Cheers for your reply. Seems funny that main lights are required to be on during dull days ! Perhaps the dial sensor is out of kilter.

It's a strange one as sometimes they do illuminate to some degree without the lights being on. I think there is a sensor somewhere but it does not work very well.

they're light sensitive, so it works off a sensor i think. and if the car thinks it's too dark, bye bye dashboard illumination. I'm not sure if there's a bypass though

If memory serves sensor is in instrument cluster. If you have tinted glasses then sensor could be confused sometimes. That's it seems to be in my up!.

On mine, unless the headlights where on, you had no main instrument lights. A good thing IMO and nicely judged. If you couldn't see the clocks, it was dark enough to need headlights.
