max speed/ emergency mode??????

Featured Replies

hi folks

my furby is remapped,im relly happy with it.one week ago i changed for 17`s 40/215.when i was trying my max the speedo was something about 225 km/h,but suddenly i started loosing power and speed also and i could go more than 120km/h after that.i looked at the booklet and asked some gues that that was the emergency modus for the engine.did anybody had this same problem with the max speed?

what is it?

thanks for every information

ivan

It sounds like limp mode (emergency mode as you put it) and did it clear itself after restarting?

If not I would check with VAGCOM and clear errors etc.

yes when i switched off the engine and started again i could go fast as i want again but after couple mins at the max speed happened the same.

i visited the car dealer and he clearded.but will it happen again??in the cardealer he said it will beacause off my bigger wheels.

We've had exact the same problem with our Fabia RS, since we've tuned the performance quite high...

Been to the car dealer may times with questions about this....no one...has found any answer for it yet...asked around on the internet too...

So, if anybody knows...what it might be...please tell me!!! ;)

Thanks

Who did the remap?

It's much more likely that this is causing Limp Mode than just a change in wheels

It wont be the change of wheels, any increase in load these have put on the engine will be no different from driving up a hill.

Mine did this a few times with my tuning box set very high. It would be fine after turning the ignition off then on again (which can be done on the move) but if it happened twice in quick succession the engine management light would come on.

When this happened the fault code was it was overboosting!!!

Although the tuning box only modified fuel settings I understand that the turbo boost pressure is not directly altered by the unit and but can be increased via the natural increase in exhaust gases.

Its overboost sending the engine ECU into limp home/safety mode.

Has been known to happen on standard cars but remapped ones seem to suffer more. Usually occurs when maintaining highish speed under a constant load. A small throttle action usually leads to a feeling of loosing speed or finding it difficult to maintain the speed your at. Flick the key off and back on again and you away. I've had a few thoeries why it happens but to be honest i've never found the exact cause.

thanks i did it and a was back on track.but i will happen all the time or is there anything to avoid it?and please can anybody tell me what is a limp mode.

thanks.

Limp mode is basically a mode in which the ECU virtually turns off the turbo and runs the engine on a failsafe map. You can drive the car but it won't perform anywhere near normal performance.

In my case it happened as a turbo hose clip came off - smoked like crazy and was a little tricky to drive, but cleared the error after correcting the problem and it's been great since.

thanks

it's overboost, isn't it? reckon your map's a bit aggressive...talk to the tuners and see what they reckon...
