Six months wait for new car is unacceptable

Featured Replies

Its about 7 years since I bought a new Fabia and in my present circumstances I find a new Kodiaq an attractive proposition. I like to plan replacement cars on a timetable that's convenient for me and about every three years if possible. Accordingly I dropped in to the local dealership to enquire about lead times etc. I was told that to be on the safe side I would need to allow 22 to 26 weeks from placing the order and I find this hard to understand. Even allowing for 4 weeks delivery from the country of manufacture. Why does a company which plans its production on a JIT basis and demands delivery of components from its suppliers practically hourly give such a poor service to its customers?

I suspect the answer might just be a matter of gaining financial advantage, can there be any other explanation? This is very likely to colour my choice of new vehicle and it won't be in Skoda's favour.

It is what it is.  Others manufacturers have the same issues, waiting times, factory orders, if unhappy by cars in stock or in transit.

If 'Just on time deliveries' is the issue then that is the VW Group.

But then VW Group sacked suppliers, or actually suppliers wanted to stop supplying VW group because they try screwing over suppliers all the time.

There was WLTP, and VW Group never dealt with that well.

Skoda have 20 models to introduce in under 2 years,

The Scala is coming, Katchagoogoo Fabia / Rapid / SEAT Arona ickle SUV to introduce,

they have Diesels to drop.

Best get a 1.0TSI as there are growing issues with 1.5 TSI's ,  allegedly.

According to the social media / forums and actual owner and drivers.

I too have been quoted circa 26 weeks for a Kodiaq today. But then I want the revised 2.0 190 bhp TSI with 15 different options! I'm not in a hurry so happy to wait.

28 week wait here for a karoq. It is what it is. If it is unacceptable to you I guess you have to go elsewhere. It is acceptable to me as I’m in no hurry and it will still be “new” when it arrives.

Sitting in in the port for 4 weeks waiting for new emissions approval while it rusts in the salt air is a bit harder to stomach

I have been waiting since September last year for my new skoda superb delivery seems pretty typical atm

Ordered my Superb Sportline in mid October 2018. Just had been manufactured mid January instead of December 2018 due to WLTP.
So waited 4 months for my new car but I'm pretty sure it worth it.

This isn't new, is it?  Go back to the then-new Yeti in 2009/2010 - six months was the norm unless you bought off the forecourt.  Even in  2012, I waited five months.

One car I ordered new in October I got the following June. Almost nine months.
