Clutch "click" sound when pressing and releasing clutch

Featured Replies

Hi I have bought a Superb 60reg its only done 58k miles and it came with a aprooved used warranty.

Few days after picking it up from the dealer it developed a clicking sound everytime you press and release the clutch. It doesnt sound normal and searching on Briskoda forums it seema that it could be Clutch master valve. The question is. Is it covered by warranty before i go there and they will fob me off?

Regards

The problem is that I bought it in doncaster but live in Liverpool can i use the local dealer to claim the warranty repair? Skoda uk said that i can use it anywhere just worried that will start arsing about that i havent bpught it from them.. never used warranty before thats why i was asking

If Skoda approved warranty then any Skoda dealer should do. Go in, guns blazing, tell them Skoda sold you a car with a problem. See what they say.

You may have the same problem that a few Fabia and Octavia drivers have experienced.

I investigated the click on my Octavia2 and found it sometimes happened on both pressing and releasing the clutch pedal. I was worried that it was a sign of a failing clutch pedal switch that eventually would not sense that I had pressed the pedal down prior to an engine start.

I took the car a Skoda dealer and the diagnosis was that it was coming from plastic (?) connector where the pedal spring connects to the clutch arm. They offered to change the spring assembly or I could just try a little lubricant. I used the latter approach with a spray lubricant and after a few days the clicking was gone. They also said the switch is no longer on the clutch pedal as it was on the Octy1.

You may not have the same cause but worth a closer look just in case. One easy test with the engine off is to try pressing the clutch pedal to various positions between full and half way down and see if the click is when you start to bring the pedal back up again. I should add that mine initially would only click when pushing down and not on release.

Thanks for your comment. It actually feels like there is like ON/OFF push switch which feels odd rather than just sounding strange. I will have a look at the connector you suggested and will test with engine on or off. Thank you once again for your input!

Mine sounded just like an on/off push switch too, which is why I was worried it was the clutch pedal switch.

If you are a contortionist, try putting a finger on the clutch arm while you move the pedal and you should feel the click.

You tend to pay a premium when buying from a manufacturers forecourt, rather than an independant garage.

One of the reasons for this is that should something need fixing you're able to use any of Skoda's franchised main dealer network for warranty work.

No need to even involve the original Skoda dealer in Doncaster, book it into Johnsons Skoda (new name for Alex Lawrie) in Liverpool.

The clutch shouldn't click so it sounds like a genuine warranty claim.
