First Service - Variable - 18K

Featured Replies

Online booking worked well - £177 all in for whatever was going to happen - so today I headed for the big smoke (Glasgow).

Just as the weather turned nasty.

Dealer is a convenient stroll away from shops so no need for loaner or drop off today after delivering car at 1015h.

Had agreed that I’d be called when all was complete, but the first contact was a text message with web link to my Vehicle Inspection Report.

Oh what a relief to find I had no RED alerts. But oh, 2 Amber alerts.

My wheel alignment is screwed!!! Now where have I heard that before? Oh, the last time I visited a Skoda dealer. £60

And would I like them to service my AC at the same time. £99

FRO says I politely.

I called to ask if car was finished, but it was still to be road tested and washed.

I never did get the phone call, so just rocked up to collect car around 2pm when it suited me.

A kid talked me through 12 pages of checklists and receipts and failed to convince me that my tracking and AC needed attention.

Some oil, 2 filters, a screw, some “cleaner” plus the Environmental charge and Consumables made up the detail.

Surprisingly all 4 brakes show 10% worn when the fronts have done 18,000 and the rears have only done 6,000 (warranty replacement) and the fronts do most of the work.

Stunned to find we now throw away sump plugs for the sake of a 10p washer.

The world’s gone mad.

Oh - and the wayward Simply Clever RH rear door bumper guard thing was reattached, but now simply cleverly lives permanently in the closed inside position. Clowns.

Front pads are bigger. But considering different mileage seems a little odd.

By contrast, my first service (albeit at one year and only 4,200 miles) was excellent:  car collected from my home (11miles from dealer) and returned.  Immaculately washed and vacuumed.

While it was gone, I was emailed a video of the underside inspection, together with the figures on tyre and brake wear for each wheel.

The driver returning the car gave me the paperwork, but (without my asking) also took me in detail through the work that had been done and the findings.

The dealer has (as far as I know!) never lied to me, on three Skodas, now, and is always extremely helpful.  All Electric Skoda, Kings Heath, Birmingham.

Are you sure you are not under influence  any ...? :)

Next time you visit your dealer can you please ask them if they are interested in opening a spot close to my home?

LOL

My nearest dealer did the same thing - I declined the courtesy car but let them drop me off to work an pick me up.

The video surprised me as they didn't use it to ask for/upsell extra unwanted work - it was used to show me all was fine, loads of tread, no worries.

Used Al Hayes Skoda, Ennis, Clare, Ireland.
