New 06 Furby vRS probs

Featured Replies

Hi everybody.

The stutter is still there so the car is going back into dealership monday 3rd april to check it out AGAIN!!! Now done 1k miles, but it`s annoying.

I've booked the car into a different dealer friday same week. They told me this shouldn`t be happening at all so they going to check it out as well. A different dealer may give alternate approach to problem.

On a spur of the moment idea, phoned local audi dealer and spoke to their head of service - great bloke, very helpful.

He said that the problem is most likely down to the air flow meter but they would check out egr valve just incase, but if it continued egr valve would be replaced - the same fault on audi pd130 engines.

He also told me that if it went on they would check if injectors were firing properly and also check the ecu, due to some have lost their memory for injecting fuel and they had to upload new software - another fault on audi pd130`s.

But heres the best bit, of all problems they have encountered, he said they should have rectified them, due to they all get trained at the same place - vw, audi, seat skoda technicians. All the common problems are laid out in black and white due to the engine used in different brands - all faults as he said are passed through the vag group.

Any creases on your seats???

Any creases on your seats???

no - crease free :)

no - crease free :)

Just make sure you remember to take them straight out the washing machine then.

On a serious note, that's one less thing for you to worry about.

I haven't detected any hesitation on my new 06 vrs yet although I do have the seat creases!!!

hi everybody

mine was in dealership today had a good day and bad bay see thread (bad day at dealership) it explains al,l but the best thing is that they changed the (MAF) or AIR FLOW METER don`t know which you prefer and at the moment my stutter seems to have dissapeared and I`ve tried everything to get it to stutter and noticed coming home the turbo spools up quicker and a bit louder but no stutter or hesitation either so hopefully mines been cured.

hope this helps

( hoping to see you at cat and fiddle on 29th april)

This is encouraging. Mines done 2k and still stutters, albeit intermittently. I may see if it fixes itself and if still happening ill get it looked at when it goes in for 10k service.

Mine also feels like its lost power in the last 500miles or so - this could be the warmer weather? Or could it be the constant motorway usage? Pretty dis-heartening if theyre meant to loosen up as they run in.....

Mine has done 4500 kilometres and it seems that the stuttering disappeard at about 3500 kilometers if this helps you all :)

I'm another '06 (EuroIV) vRS Fabia owner that's far from happy. I have the stutter on gentle acceleration described perfectly in this post too. Local dealer had the car today (Winchester Motors, Hampshire) and informed me that Skoda UK are aware of the problem and are in contact with "the factory", but there is no solution at present. I told them I will reject the car if there is not a prompt fix as I think this seriously reduces the driving pleasure of the car.

I also have the "wrinkled seats" mentioned elswhere and the driver's door switch panel is loose; both to be replaced without a quibble.

I asked them to reprogram the central locking to enable the locking when the car is doing 8kph and they wanted

You may be right, but I've become highly cynical over many years of dealing with car manufacturers. They rarely fix anything like this, their main aim is to delay and delay until you have no chioce but to accept the fault. It usually goes

1. we are not aware of the problem,

2. we recognise the problem with some owners (difficult ones in their mind),

3. we've fixed the problem (but they haven't at all)

4. it's characteristic of the vehicle and we can't do anything about it.

I would prefer to cut to the chase and chop the car early. Too much delay and in law you are deemed to have accepted the vehicle.

yeh, I definitely agree with you're comments about some car dealers. However, I do believe that they will eventually respond if you deal with them in a firm, but controlled, manner. Losing tempers, making threats / accusations simply turns them against you and prevents them from wanting to help you.

Ultimately, I would hope that you don't want to reject the car as it is an awesome vehicle. Therefore, you're better off trying the cool and calculated approach. This may obviously take some time and patience though!

Best of luck either way and I hope you get the chance to keep the vrs and enjoy it at its best!

interested in this EGR fix suggested - anyone got a link to hand as to how I do it as I haven't a clue where to start :(

Evening Guys:thumbup:

I was Horrified After picking up my new silver VRS just a couple of weeks ago that I had this same Hesitation/Flatspot as you chaps. It was my other half that noticed it when driving back after picking it up, it had only done approx 30miles.

Anyway I thought I'd have a play today and see if fitting a new MAF would sort it?

Being a Technician and working on skoda's most of the day I have never come across these symptons before, yes loads of faulty MAF's but usually they either work or they don't!

So I decided to fit my spare Merc MAF which I once had in a golf, What difference.

It now drives like a new car, so fingers crossed!

Cheers

hi everbody

I only got one thing to say AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

my car had the maf replaced under warranty to help cure the stutter on monday 3rd and it did vanish but my wife told me this afternoon 6th april the stutter had returned but thankfully I had already booked it in at BICKERTON SHEFFIELD on friday same week just incase this happened so I will post a reply to say what they did.

so the problem could be softor something else may ask about EGR and CONTROL BOOST VALVE to be checked over hopefully different dealer different approach to problem.

cheers

Just an update after my previous post saying what a difference the mecr maf made

Iv'e done over 100miles with out any flat spot and then this morning the ems light came on! I down loaded the ecu and the fault read Air mas sensor Improbable signal, I have changed back to the bosch maf and cleared the faults . just have to see what happens now!!

hi there everybody:rofl:

writing this as I`m sat at bickerton skoda on their internet so fresh in mind.

One of the main guys here sorry don`t know his name at moment post later.

He has just told me skoda uk know about the problem and they have been asked to get all the technical data from the cars due to skoda changing the engine management system for emmisions and some how this caused the problem but they don`t know how. :(

They want all the data sent to them then they are sending it back to the factory so they can lock themselves away and figure out a cure.

At last a proper answer to what is going on unfortunately took 5 visits but I`m glad I came here to get a genuine answer due to getting nothing from where I bought my car so I`ve found a good dealer and they are so friendly and helpfull.

Thank you all for telling me about BICKERTON SHEFFIELD A HUGE THUMBS UP.

(much happier now I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and it`s not a train)

Time to get mine to the dealer then, more back up the better it seems.

Thanks for all your feedback on this, I was actually thinking it may be a good idea if we did a poll to see how many of us 06 'ers have this and how many don't and then emailing the info to Skoda uk. But it seems they are at last acknowledging the problem exists and are working on it.

Hi Folks

Been away for a bit (catching some sun). Looks like some of you have been a bit busy trying to get this problem sorted!!

Skoda Customer Services, whom I mailed regarding the stuttering, called me (whilst I was away - typical!!!). I rang them today and spoke to 'Mark Murphy' if anyone's interested. He told me the following:

1. The technicians at Skoda are aware that there is a problem but the Dealers are not reporting it back to them and they are reluctant to do anything about it until then! This means that we all have to get down to our respective Dealers' and hassle them about it!!

2. If you can repeat the fault (and I think that I probably can), in front of a Tech and he/she cannot diagnose/fix it, you can request that an Area Maintenance Tech is present and repeat the fault in front of them. These are the next level of Techs who don't get their hands dirty but specialise in troubleshooting.

3. If all else fails, the car could be taken to the Milton Keynes Skoda test centre for fault analysis.

Unfortunately, Dealers can only replace parts under Warranty that have known faults attached to them, ie. they cannot swap out suspect parts (like EGR's, Boost Valves and MAF's) to troubleshoot.

Looks like it's up to all of us 'en masse' to kick up a fuss.

Pixi has suggested that we hold a Poll amongst all of us '06 owners - If she doesn't start one in the next few days, I'll start another thread requesting one.

Meanwhile, mine's going to the Dealer (Renshaw and Newsome, Nottingham) on Monday or Tuesday next to have it investigated, yet again.

Happy Stuttering all!!!

This is also a problem on the 2.0 Tdi engine in the Octavia.

We have an o4 Fabia Vrs so no problem there but my 05 Octy TDi had exactly this fault and there was a lot of similar discussion in the Octy forum last year.

Perhaps its a software thing and the Fabia now has updated software similar to the Octy

The Octys now done about 31K and the problem has disappeared after about 25k so perhaps it is a mileage thing after all.

I agree that its a pain though. In the Octy it almost felt as if the engine had stopped and restarted. Not funny.
