Fabia Mark 3 wheel lock

Featured Replies

Hi. Just got 17 plate Fabia. Having problem engaging steering wheel lock. Moving left/right but doesn't seem to lock. Am I missing something. The key is out and wheels straight. Any info would be much appreciated.

How far have you tried to turn the steering wheel with the key out, at a guess 30>45 degrees away from straight ahead should allow the lock to engage, I've only ever noticed the lock on my wife's Polo being left by her in the garage with the steering lock engaged - ie found a load on the lock when I went to put the key in - she said "I knew that you would complain".

Thanks. Yes, there is a little play when I take the ignition key out but there is no click and the wheel just swings a small amount. I have read the manual and there is a lock mentioned. The other day I am sure it locked as I had a chew starting the car as the key would not turn, but with a bit of huffing and puffing it released. I was just wondering if there is a problem and have to see someone at the car show room I bought it from. Like I say, the key is out and the car in neutral. Any tips?? Thanks for your input. Like I say, there is a resistance when removing the key but I'm not certain the lock is on? Cheers.

PAS works, it is very hard to turn the steering wheel without the engine running.

You need to turn the wheel until it locks in place.

Try turning the wheel for one revolution with the key out of the barrel.

You will then have 'fun' trying to unlock the steering lock.

Thanks AG Falco

I have a 2016 SEL with push button ignition. I have noticed that the activation of the steering lock is linked to the driver's door. The steering lock is not applied directly the ignition is turned off but when the driver's door is next opened. The steering lock is de-activated when the driver's door is closed.

Maybe there is a similar system on the key barrel locks?
