How do I update my sat Nav?

Featured Replies

I’ve just bought a 2008 MK2 Octavia 4x4 and I think the in-built Sat Nav is still the original version - there are roads that were built a good 8 or 9 years ago that aren’t on it!

How do I go about updating it? I have googled but most of the threads that come up are from 2010 or thereabouts.

Thanks!

Depends which sat nav you have. Can you post a picture?

Anyone know what type of SatNav it is?

It's a Columbus which is also known as a RNS-510 when fitted to VW's. Map updates are done by DVD, the latest is V16 for West Europe (inc UK).

Genuine DVD's from a dealer tend to be expensive, you can probably find some cheaper ones on eBay or even download and burn the maps to a dual layer disc yourself.

Thanks so much, found one on eBay. Can I go straight from my version to v16 or do I need to do smaller steps?

Should be able to update directly to v16 :-)
