Hello my friends

 

I have bought a HBA mirror from one of my friends. It worked fine in he's car, which is exacct the same as min, but for the maxidot display.

We have the same BCM, with same hw and sw versions, we both have factory fitted rain/light sensor, and the returning beam stalk.

 

In he's maxidot display i got an HBA icon, telling him that the assistant was active. I knew, as i didnt have maxidot, that i could not have this icon, but i assumed it would work despite that. Know i got doubts if there is some kind of logic functionality in the cluster regarding the HBA assistant, and its not just a dum icon that the canbus tells the instrument to turn on, an thats it. Do any of you guys know if my HBA will work without the maxidot cluster ?

 

2. Has any of you guys experience with the RCD 330 from chinese market ? I have amundesen+, but i really think the navigation suck, but Im totally satisfied with the rest of the amundsen. For eksample in my city is does not know when left turns are prohibited, and many oneway roads which are 5 years old it does not know either. First i thought it was the map (v11 for rns-315 west europe at ebay for £38), but then i got on yo navteq's website were they have a route planner called we-go or something like that, and that route planner didnt know the one way streets either, so i figured there maps are ****ty!
 

Are you all happy with the way the amundsen+ or rns-315 navigates ?

Can you post an autoscan with the HBA camera fitted?

 

Rcd330 is mostly ok. Biggest issue I had was the lack of RDS and AF on FM radio. There are a few other bugs around Bluetooth and sound levels. It'll depend what firmware and hardware it has. It doesn't do DAB or navigation either.

 

Can't comment on the rns315 maps im afraid... :-)

Ok sorry i misunderstood, but as far as i can see we have the exact same equiptment in the cars. He has a slightly newer can gateway, but in my gateway on the instalation list, there is also room for module 20.

I was hoping the HBA camera would be installed to see if it had any fault codes present.

 

It could be the instrument cluster causing the issue as it may refuse to activate if no warning light can be shown. Is your headlight switch in the 'Auto' position?

 

When you coded the BCM, did you set it to all 00's and then put the new lcode in? Sure I've seen this suggested elsewhere.

 

Other than that, your ABS, gateway and steering assist (44) modules are all older. It could be any of these too. Gateway is relatively cheap to replace, steering assist can be updated, the ABS is probably OK.

Oh i think you are misunderstanding me. It is not fitted yet.

 

If you look at my first post, all i di is asking if a maxidot display is mandatory for the HBA to function. I know that when i have the small cluster i will not get an icon that the system is active, but will it work, alså without the icon in the cluster ?

Sorry - I misunderstood. I read it as you'd already fitted it but it wasn't working...

 

All I can suggest is you try wiring it up and see what happens. It's not a common retrofit on the Octavia and I expect everyone that has fitted HBA already had a maxidot.

 

 

I just did a quick google and there are no obvious examples of an Octavia with HBA with a non-maxidot cluster :(
