There is often a lot of misinformation floating around on cambelt intervals, so I checked with Skoda UK.

 

Still not what you'd call a reliable source of information, but probably as good as it gets

I am aware you no longer are provided with a physical Service Book, but are you not provided with any information at time of handover as to when particular items or components should be serviced or replaced? 

Nope, the more sceptical amongst us might suggest that this is a deliberate ploy by the manufacturers to force us to use their franchised dealer network and make it as difficult as possible to self-service or use non-approved garages for routine servicing.

'Some of our retailers '   Odd wording, 

usually referred to 'Approved Repairers'  and they are their Official Dealerships and Franchised partners.

 

So as usual a VW Group UK free for all and left to what the Service Desk Personnel can find on a screen or are told at 'Upselling training half day'.

I’ve had a similar experience from the same guy. 

I asked if the factory fit towbar had wiring to power the caravan fridge whilst towing. I’ve had 3 emails in last 2 weeks apologising for the delay in getting an answer from the technical team! I’m still waiting for an answer (but have heard directly from a dealer that they are). 

I sent the original enquiry on the cambelt before Christmas and forgot all about it.

 

I then sent a less polite reminder on Wednesday after remembering, and got the response today.

 

I guess they're pretty busy proof reading their brochures and owners manuals

I hope that this time they are doing that after they have translated them into English. I'm pretty sure my Superb 2 manual was proofed in Czech but never in English!
