My friend's car has suddenly decided to stop working.

He got into a fuel station to get some food, parked the car, walked in, back out and into his car to find it won't start...

In fact, it goes crazy. His auto GB display flickers when the ignition and there's some sort of electrical sounding noise that goes on, like somethin' out the Terminator. When you turn the ignition, it sounds like it's about to start, you can hear the engine engage, but then it stops.

What could be the problem??

Sounds like a flat battery and the solenoid is clicking on the starter.

Ahh yes but they are spoken for, the rest however is yours

Thanks, it's just as you said. Flat battery, plus large fan motor apparently needs replacement.
