Did you take the plastic jet off and clean it out? When it was off, was water coming out of the pipe when operating the window wash? I think we all need more info.

Is it a hatch or estate?

If the former they're notorious for failing as the water runs through the wiper mechanism and bungs it up. Eventually they rust up inside and require replacement.

I got through 3 of them in the course of owning 3 Octavias..

Plenty of threads on the forum

Rear wiper failure - Octavia 2

Hope you can get it fixed anyway - it's an annoying failure.

Hi

Thanks for your reply, mine is a hatch.

is this the hollow shaft that the Jet is attached to and is it easy to replace/clean?

I understand this hollow pin can be removed by pulling from the top or must I remove the panelling from the hatch door and dismantle it?

Hi John you have to remove the inner trim held on by a torx screw at the grab handle then just trim clips they are very tight. Once the trim is removed I would remove the pipe from the rear wiper motor to check if water gets to that point. If it does then its a blockage in the motor assy if the internal pipe within the motor is rusty its hard to clean without it blocking again. Cheap none genuine screen wash is normally the reason for the blockage.

Pulled mine apart from the outside, pull the plastic cover off, put a pin into one of the holes and pull it all away from the unit, nozzle should just pop off. Test water flow then clean the holes out properly in the nozzle, mine were bunged up. Put it all back together and works perfectly now.

no need to pull the boot liner off unless the above doesn’t fix it.
