Radio Problem - no volume

Featured Replies

OK, I must be thick....

2018 Octavia VRS and dropped daughter off at school with radio on. Switch off ignition, lock car etc as normal. Back in and switch on and no volume. Mute showing at top of screen so hit switch on steering wheel to un-mute. Use rocker control to increase volume and nothing. Changed from DAB to FM and still nothing. Never done this before so what do i need to do to get volume again?!

Cheers

Grant

If nothing works of usual things, you may disconnect car battery for a few minutes, to see if it will come back to its sense - unless its amplifier output is gone. I don't know if it features a factory reset button?

Does it think you are using a phone or navigation and muting so you can hear it?

Alternatively if your choice of music is deemed ... incorrect ...

I've had this happen before and it coincided with me changing media sources.

I was streaming music from my phone but disconnected it, I switched to radio and it had muted itself but I couldn't turn the volume up.  Turned it off and on again, it was fine.

You should also be able to do a soft reset by pressing and holding the power button (while it's off) until it turns on (takes between 5-15 seconds).

The above advice for a soft reset has always fixed my infotainment system when it throws a wobbly.  (About once every six months or so...)  The last time I had the exact opposite to you: I could hear the radio, but the screen was completely blank, and could not be coaxed into life in any way.

I sometimes have this issue also. Radio all good, get to destination, shut down, get back in and no radio volume. Only way to get it back in my case is to change radio station (DAB) and the volume comes back. I put it down to a software gremlin in the machine somewhere.
