Please can anybody enlighten me when does the turbo kick in on the 1.9TDi PD130. Is there a noise?

What are the possible upgrades?

As its a VNT unit, I would expect it spools up from quite low engine speeds, but only becoming obvious at around 1800rpm or there abouts.

The turbo on mine is quite vocal with the window down! Makes a groovy hissing noise.

You are about correct there Matt. Really notice the kick between 1800-2000, but there is a nice hissing noise from the turbo almost as soon as you start to accelerate. It is nice to drive with the window open and the music off, just to hear the turbo spinning up!

The turbo on the PD 130 begins to noticeably spool up @ 1600rpm, peak torque is around the 1900-2000rpm mark where you get pinned to the seat :drive:

Also once it has been Jabba'd will rev and pull hard all the way to 4750 rpm, and boy that's nice. Also had an indicated 145mph on the clock (on private road officer) the way home this morning from work. :shocked: well impressed :eyecrazy:
