Car unlocking itself....

Featured Replies

Hello,

Need some advice/info around a rather odd problem I've encountered with my fl Octy! Upon returning to the car after a brief trip out, as I approached the car, it seemed to unlock itself, without me touching any button on the key fob. It then preceded to carry on beeping as I got in and then all the windows went down as if I'd kept my finger on either the lock or unlock button!

It's carried on doing this a few times there after. Any idea what could be causing this for those that may have experienced this or anything similar? I'm wondering if it's anything to do with the battery in the fob which I'm yet to replace.

Battery on the way out.

Battery for what? Fob or the car itself?

Or could it be that the fob unlock button is actually getting stuck?

Do you have another key to use and verify?

Yes that could also be a possibility - will check my spare key later today. Wonder how much it would cost to replace buttons.

It may just be an issue with the plastic case. You can get replacements for those at non-obscene prices.

I tend to suspect this is a problem with the key more likely than one with the car.

I have just scanned my neighbours car for this problem, on opening the door loads of water ran out so was expecting fault codes for the door controller but nothing so I went with his suggestion of coding out the global opening function.

It cannot happen now from the button being pressed in a pocket or whatever, doors unlocked maybe but not windows opening, if it happens again we will know to look for water ingress or comfort control module problems.

So you don't think it's linked to key fob?

He (my neighbour) thinks it is, I have an open mind, by disabling the function the keyfob cannot under any circumstances open the windows and sunroof if fitted, if it still happens then its not the keyfob.
