Reversing camera

Featured Replies

What would it cost to buy and have coded a reversing camera assuming I fitted it myself? Or, if I'm being lazy, what would a dealer cost to supply, fit and code?

Anyone been down this route? I'm sure there will have been...

thanks!

Nick

All in my project thread, starting here Can be done for under £20. Make sure you measure your boot handle and get the right one. Also you will need to do a coding change so ensure you can do that, or know someone who can do that :)

Cheers, I've have a read! If I can do it for £20, I can spend the rest on coding. Will OBD Eleven (or whatever its called) do it? Or just VCDS?

thanks

Nick

Yes, OBDEleven will do it. I paid £16 for my camera and I could have got it cheaper if I'd have been happy to wait. The coding change is 5F Infotainment - Long Coding - Byte 19 enable Bit 4.

sorry to hijack

Not sure on what stereo system I have but is it possible to do it with any setup?

Does the camera replace the boot handle? Does the camera come with its own boot release button built in then? And how many of those connectors do you need? I can see a fun weekend ahead, well after waiting with anticipation for a delivery from China for a month :)

As long as it’s a Bolero with BT or above which all UK spec Octavais have

Yes, the OEM one is integrated in it as are the tidiest aftermarket ones. You need 2 20AWG connections but they come in packs of 10 for £2.80.

Sahsa - I may drop you a pm to discuss this further if I may? would really like to do this but don't want to clog up this thread

It's a brilliant mod, highly recommended.

Following @SashaGrace thread I think my total cost was £42, that included camera, flexi trunking (£5) from Skoda, terminals & wire etc. and a pair of crimping pliers!
