Fabia 1.9 tdi

Featured Replies

im looking to buy a fabia 1.9 tdi, i would buy a VRS however i cannot afford it. what is the difference bettween the 1.9tdi and the VRS, as i beleve they are the same engine but how does skoda get the extra 30 BHP from the VRS? once i have purchased my fabia i intend to get as many HP from it as possible, can i expect to get the 160BHP+ that you can get from a VRS from just the 100BHP 1.9, cheers:)

The VRS had a different turbo , injectors and quite a few other changes.

A remapped PD100 would give you a bit more power than a standard VRS but to go much more than that you need to start making bigger changes.

If money isn't a problem you can get close to 190 bhp apparently

Hi, speak to Jason (devonutopia). His car was originally a PD100 and I think he got about 154bhp from it with a Jabba remap and a decat exhaust.

Money is a HUGE problem, think i will just go for a remap, do you know any good places?

also can you fit a tuning box and have a remap?

Can't have both. A remap will be smoother and produce more power than a tuning box, but a good tuning box (e.g., Dragon - http://mrhoot.com) is still only half the cost of many remaps.

Expect a tuning box to cost around the £200 to £250 mark . . . remaps from about £400 usually.

Expected gains - a dragon box will give you an increase to about 130 bhp and 220 ft lbs, a remap should get you closer to 140/150 bhp and 230 ft lbs.

Cheers for the info. if im gunna spend

He changed his engine though!!

He changed his engine though!!

Nope , his PD100 engine in both furbies was up to just over 150 bhp.

Now he has the VRS engine it's the other side of 200

So he DID change his engine then!!??

does a decat exhaust cause an MOT failure casue thats what i have read on other sites and how much would you gain from a decat exhaust?

No, not a legal requirement. Gain from a decat? Not alot as the diesel cat flows quite well as its no as restrictive as a petrol one.

A decat on a TDI makes a lot of noise though, Jason's sounds like a high performance tractor and has a 60 a day smoking habit as well - go go gadget smog ;):D

I have had my pd100 since october last year, after advice from the people on this forum.

I love to drive it. It also has a skoda VRS body kit?? fitted to it which i am very pleased about. And black 'go faster' stripes going down the sides to break up the doors  for a none VRS is does really look the business. I should really get some photo's up here, because i think its a bit of a one off :)

But since money can sometimes be tight, a pd100 was the best choice, and its cracking :D

 It is a bit, eh? :D

I think now the ultimate PD100 mods are:

1) FORGET about the exhaust for now

2) Source out PD130 turbo & injectors from an ASZ engine (can be from any seat,VW,Audi engine that uses this block - parts will be the same) - estimated cost perhaps

Or you could of had a nice allard upgrade :)

Or you could of had a nice allard upgrade :)

True. Can you imagine a PD100 engine with the VT4 turbo and their race injectors? I wonder if the internals of the engine could cope with that? (bearing in mind less aggressive cam and "100bhp" other components) :D

i assume it must of had some durability testing before they released it as their reputation would be on the line if it went BANG.

Having said that, you'd of probably needed an engine rebuild every 50k

That's why i'm happy with just a remap & a few other bits and bobs because i couldn't be bothered with the @rseache a hybrid, fmic, new injectors etc may of caused in the long run.

**wait's for the hybrid brigade to come along and tell me the engine will be under less stress now as the components are built to handle the extra power :D

so would a PD100 tuned to 130bhp be faster than a standard VRS?? bearing in mind the weight difference???? (dont know much bout this)

unsure of the ratio's of the 5 speed box in comparison with the 6 speed in the vRS but I would assume it would be close if not quicker yes due to the weight difference.

Certainly a Jabba (or other tuner) custom remapped 1.9 TDi 100 would be faster than a standard vRS as it would be pushing between 140-155 bhp and it would be even quicker if you also had the Ibiza Cupra Intake and a Green Panel Filter.

What lb/ft is the clutch on the PD100 capable of handling?

no idea im just saving to get one, intend to get as much BHP as possible without effecting reliability. i though maybe the different injectors, turbo etc on the VRS would make it that bit quicker. cant wait to get my car, just need the moneyicon9.gif

cant wait to get my car, just need the money[img']http://www.briskoda.net/forums/images/icons/icon9.gif[/img]

JabbaSport remap £375 using 10 percent briskoda discount

green panel filter £35

ibiza cupra intake £20-30

power between 145 and 155 bhp should easily be atainable with that.

the pd100 remapped making full use of the std turbo and injectors will be quicker than a vrs not making the most of it's turbo/injectors. irrelivent of what each car is capable of you need to look at the figures, the pd100 remapped would have more lb/ft torque and bhp than the pd130 vrs standard. match that with the 5 speed box and that fact it's a lot lighter and i've no doubt it probably will be quicker bearing in mind the vrs only has a 6 speed for cruising, the difference in ratio's between 5th & 6th in the vrs are very small, so it's really just for economy and that little bit extra up top.

im looking to spend about

I got my '02 TDi for £4k with 30k miles on it last year . . . if you look closely enough and have patience, it will pay off and there are some gems. :)

Alternatively, you could do what I did and get a
