Mechanic suggestions in Melbourne VIC AUS

Featured Replies

Worst customer service at Richmond Skoda dealership. Looking for a mechanic to take our 2008 Octavia RS diesel for servicing. We have to replace our ABS control unit - I have read on here that this has happened on other vehicles after a software update. Quoted $1366.75 to repair.  NOT HAPPY JAN.

I wish..........................

I used to live in Richmond, but don't know a good independent mechanic I'm afraid. But the abs unit repair should be fairly well known. Here in the uk the unit can be remanufactured or exchanged for a repair unit.  That saves a lot of cost if Skoda Richmond were quoting to replace the part....

call a few repair shops and find someone who knows what you are on about...

Yes, Skoda Richmond are quoting to replace the unit. Skoda Richmond apparently requested head office to pay for the repair but they declined. Is this fault something well known in Skoda circles? I have found one post on this forum regarding it.

Yes, a well known vw audi group issue affecting certain model abs control units.

Great news! ABS control unit being replaced free of charge at another dealership. Very happy.

Well done. Yes, different dealerships appear to make different cases to Skoda, happens in UK too. Did replies on here help?

Yes, I made reference to these responses. It only took about an hour to get the nod from Skoda for free repair. So very happy.
