Oil level on brand new Superb

Featured Replies

Check for unremoved transit blocks too, and the rear number plate fitted at the usual 17 deg wonky angle (using Ski's special template  :giggle:)

  • This was underneath the bonnet so I think I can safely assume the Quantum 5w30 will be suitable for topping up.

  • Skoda assist coming out today so will update later. Thanks for all the advice guys, what a ‘superb’ community this is!

  • So Skoda Assist came out to check over the car. No leaks but confirmed the oil was low and also noted a warning on the dash which I hadn’t seen. Added close to a litre of quantum 5w30 to get up to the

My first two services are free anyway but you're right it might be a good idea to request another PDI in light of this.

Xman believe it or not the number plate is straight as an arrow so they got something right! And the transport blocks were something I was aware of ahead of time so got them to double check, although the ride has been silky smooth since I picked it up so no issues there.

@Fantantonio

If 2 free services does that mean the car is on Fixed Servicing so first service in 9,400 miles / 372 days from First Registered or PDI or sooner?

Worth posting an update on this for comedy value. To recap, the car was delivered with oil level below minimum on dipstick.

so Skoda Assist came out, checked it over and added oil to top up.

fast forward a few weeks and I checked the oil level...way above dipstick maximum. Thought the car must not be level. Checked again next time I used it, still high.

in the end had to get Skoda Assist out again. The guy agreed the oil level was too high and pumped off somewhere between 0.25 and 0.5 litres.

glad it’s finally at an acceptable level but shouldn’t have required so much back and forth to make it happen!

I wonder how can I give "Like" and "Sad" smileys on the same message...

Glad it was what I suspected, just a fluid check miss. If not it would be the first such engine since they came out in late 2013 that I would have heard about having drinking issues.

Checked my oil this afternoon and it was quite low.

So my question is simply this...does my car (see left) have an `Engine Oil Low Level Warning Light somewhere on the Dash?

Many thanks.

If the level drops by a litre the warning light would be displayed on the maxidot between the dials but on the dipstick it would be right at the bottom of the hatched section. My used Superb 272 wasn't checked by the Dealer when I bought it with 4,900 miles on the clock ( 9 months old) and I topped it up with half a litre of oil as it was half way down the hatch part of the dipstick.

MISSING WORD

Your car will have a Yellow Oil Can low oil warning light and a message that appears. Also a Red Oil can Low Oil Pressure Light and a warning massage.

Do not let it get that low.

Check your oil cold and if it is not near the top of the crosshatch cold it is low.

Then check when enough oil in as the Owners Manual.  At operating temperature.

Thank you, Chaps.

That has put my mind at rest somewhat.

Make sure your car is on the level when you check the oil. Even the curvature of the road is enough to give a false reading.

Took delivery of a new 272 Superb last week. This weekend decided to check out some basic bits...tyre pressure, oil levels etc and noticed the oil on the dipstick was just below the range indicators on the stick. The dealership is inconveniently far away...is this something I can just sort myself or should I be getting Skoda to do something about it?

Even though it should have previously been sorted I think it would be in your best interest to do it yourself this time.

Maybe worth mentioning it to the dealer though.

As @Skoffski posted this earlier in another thread, I thought that he wouldn't mind me posting it here too.

Yes read that bit in the manual.

corporate ass covering to make it your fault if the car consumes stupid amounts of oil in the first 3 years so they can pretend it’s not a fault.

had a very high mileage Peugeot 405 SRI that consumed so much oil it net that criteria of 0.5 l /1000

Changed the valve stem oil seals and it was fine.

never saw my MY 2009 188000 mile

Skoda Superb MK II ever use oil or need topping up deposit ebeing on Longlife service!

consuming that much oil is cause for alarm.

top it up immediately with the correct oil and raise it with the dealer.

take pics of the level.
