Scout LED Headlights

Featured Replies

Hello

I have a Oct 2017 Skoda Octavia Scout with LED headlights. The LED headlights appear to very low. Worse when fully laden the low beam headlights are dangerously low. My son is a professionally qualified driver and he agrees. The high beam is great. I get flashed by oncoming drivers in low beam as the beam is wide but short.

There appears to be no dashboard adjustment.

My dealer says they can't be adjusted. He has checked and say they are as they should be, but this was at the workshop and not laden.

Have you any advice? Is there a spec I can check against, e.g length of beam?

The low beams can be adjusted from under the hood. There are screws for each headlight. I've done this at my dealer and raised them up, as mine also were a bit down.

The dealer also had a "device" that was placed in front of the car and it had some markers where the beam should hit and indeed it showed that it was low.

If you're going to do adjustments at home, at least look at the headlight alignment diagrams on the MOT manual (freely available on gov.uk) to try and ensure they're not too high.

These LED units are bright, so don't be one of those bellends who just winds the adjustment up and blinds everyone they drive past.

There is no dashboard adjustment because they are self levelling, dash mounted adjusters were only for the purpose of compensating your beam down if you loaded the rear of the car.

Yes they adjust automatically, unfortunately you see a bit of a movement after 120km/h ... 75mph ...

In theory they should adjust in lower speeds but little change is noticed. Did a lot of test drives at night when received the car, and this is why I ended up to the dealer to "calibrate" them

Some had even from factory the automatic adjustment disabled ... so this needs to be checked as well in case it not working at all.
