Octavia Scout buying advice

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Probably had this question raised before but I quite like the Octavia Scout about 2016 model 2.0 Tdi as a future purchase and just wondered what pitfalls if any there are? I would probably go for a manual as there are far too many stories about DCT.

So, good idea or bad idea?

Welcome.

If you mean stories about the DSG's that is not the ones in a 2.0l TDI or TSI.

The issues are with DQ200 DSG's that are 7 speed twin dry clutch.

Skoffski thanks for your reply.

I was a mechanic for 30 odd years and just have an inbuilt mistrust of over complexity, I’m a sort mechocondriac!

I joined this forum to gather as much information on the enemy as possible, I like a car to be reliable and do what I need it to, I.e occasionally pull my caravan and be as future proof as possible!

Service the DSG every 40k miles and you will have minimal worries. Mine is on 103k miles now and it’s perfect! As for the rest of the car, watch for squeaks and creaks around the subframe, mine has creaky top mounts, this is not uncommon. The Scout is fairly well equipped and I really recommend getting one with the winter pack including heated screen.
