Jack Point Pads for Fabia VRS MK2

Featured Replies

A little while ago I saw some posts about people installing Jack Point Pads into their Fabias.
I haven't had any luck finding these posts again sadly.
Can anyone provide me with more information on it or link me to a thread with what I'm after?
I think the pads might have originally been for Audi or VW but also fit some Skoda models.

Got the TT ones on mine

Found what I was looking for here in Ant-Vrs' build thread, page 16. Really awesome build, and awesome guy, even listed the part numbers!

Now I just have to find them in Aus...

Not having much luck finding these in Aus at a reasonable price...

Until you get them cheaply from someplace the 'Hockey Puck' for use on a Trolley Jack works well.

Maybe I'm being stupid or missed the point, but have you tried your nearest Audi dealer, they will be able to order them in for you - or are their prices in Oz crazy?

I don't really have an Audi dealer close by, there is one in the closest city to me (which is still a fair distance away), but they're awful.
And yeah, prices in Australia tend to be quite high.

Even for simple stuff. The general rule is that if it's Euro it's expensive. I'd never really experienced this with past cars, but with the Fabia it seams to be the case.
Even simple stuff like the air filter, fuel filter and spark plugs cost an arm and a leg. The only time it's okay to even think about buying things is when they're on sale here.

Do you not have a postal / courier system in Australia where a Dealership gets stuff to you?

The Spark Plugs, Air Filter, Fuel Filter etc etc are common items to VW, Audi & SEAT.

Are the spark plugs and filters really that expensive in Australia.

NGK is a Japanese corporation, as is DENSO.

I'd assume so, postage here can take a long time.
And dealerships are notoriously over priced and so is postage.

If I could the part online and collect in store I wouldn't mind the drive. But I haven't actually found anyone selling it in my state.

I have never had the Mod for jacking points, but have a Hockey Puck / Rubber with slot for lifting Fabias etc.

Much Cheapness.

yeah, I guess that's what I'll have to do. I only recently bought my own jack.
I just saw that a few people had done the mod and I'm just starting to get into doing a bit to my car so thought it would be a pretty simple one to add to the list.
(speaking of lists I will eventually put together a list of things I've done/want to do to my car and of course some pics and vids)

I have had lots of pucks for lifts and have given ones away in the past.

So they must be cheap as i am tight.

I'd have to say that I fitted them to my wife's 2002 Polo when it was almost new, and they were very handy when using a DIY trolley jack to lift the car up and then place wooden blocks under the car prior to disappearing underneath.  When I bought my wife a new car in 2015, much to my annoyance, I could not find the original blanking plugs that VW had fitted to over these locations in the frame (why did I bother was it was now worth nothing and being traded, I don't know, just trying to return the car to its original state), then threw good intentions to the wind and got under the car on the morning we were to collect her new car - and these plastic pugs were not for coming out of the rubber pads after being in them for about 12 years!

So I ordered up a new set, use them when I'm being lazy or running out of time when changing Summer<>Winter wheels/tyres, otherwise I use "scatter cash" type Jackpoint jack stands which I found were essential for lifting my Audi S4 for working on it.

These jacking point protectors do make lifting a car up so easy - especially when you have DIY sized trolley jacks that fit over these pads snuggly, no messing with bits of wood etc, just push jack in, look underneath and pump the jack up while feeding/feeling it locating the centre of these pads.

I think that it is getting a sensible price for shipping to Oz that messes up any UK pricing. I seem to remember sending some stuff out to my daughter from UK to Perth in Oz, and that cost a bit and took for ever, even after landing in main Oz "international incoming mail" centre! Seem to remember that 3 months is an okay time.

Edit:- see Awesome are still selling "Comfort Turning" upgrade functionality kit for B5/B5.5 cars, thought that anyone that wanted that would have bought and fitted that by now, trouble was very few people actually knew that VW sold that kit - so I'd think 99% of all units sold in UK were via Deutschparts and Awesome GTI.

Thanks for that. I'll have to send them an email and see if they'll ship to Aus and how much it will be.

They should do, Mark at awesome gti is pretty good at sorting stuff out, let us know how you get on.
