Im treating the old girl to a decent service, proper parts/best oil and wondered if its worth (somehow) having the 5 speed manual gearbox oil changed?

If treating her then yes, a decent service should be routine.

The gearbox oil change is not some mystery, a mechanic / technician or fitter should be able to do one.
