dash cam cable routing (hardwire)

Featured Replies

hey

any opinion on best routing for dash cam wires?

in my last car I pulled the cover off the pillar closest to the windscreen away abit and routed it up and into the roof and then out in thd middle of the windscreen

is this possible with the superb? I'm unsure if it has airbags in these pillars or not so dont want to pull the cover off without knowing

thanks

It's any easy route along the top of the screen down the passenger side front pillar. Remove the panel on the end of the dash behind the door, drop the glove box door. The fuse box is easy to access.  There are plenty of posts on here.

Have been thinking of mounting a dashcam for a while, and got inspired when reading about it yesterday.  So went to my local shop an got a camera and the power magic pro for hardwiring/possibility to use parking mode. Really easy to install, and happy with the result.

That looks like a fab location...the vista...not the camera!!!

Is there anyway to take power from the interior lights? It would save running cables down through the car..

To be honest, it's probably much easier to get the cable down to the fuse box.. took me about 20-25 minutes to install everything, and would guess the cable routing was about 5 min.

Thanks, I never actually realised you could get wiring kits with piggyback fuse holders.. I just didn't like the idea of wiring it.. I have fitted car kits etc before to previous cars, so that should be OK.. I don't even have the cam installed at the minute due to the wiring into the cig socket
