Two channel dash cam fitting help

Featured Replies

Hi guys.. I will update ye later on my 2017 L&K Combi estate... Purchased new.. Jan 17.. 115klm on it so far.. Generally happy.

I recently purchased a 2 channel dask cam.. (front and rear cameras)

Its my intention to hardwire it with the power magic Pro... I am awaiting it to be delivered.

However.. I was testing out the camera and plugged it inti the front cigerette lighter power socket.. Nothing happened.. I then tried a dual USB power adapter in the same cigerette lighter power socket.. Nothing happened.

I plugged them both into the rear passenger cigerette power socket and all worked fine.

I phoned the dealer and he said that that's correct. There is not enough power in the front socket to do anything else other than the lighter tú function..

Is this correct or is the dealer just fobbing me off.??

2017 L&K Combi

Recently purchased a 2 channel dash cam.. Front and rear.

I am awaiting the power magic Pro kit to hardwire it.

Need advice on positioning and running the wires?

Where to mount the power magic Pro to easily and discreetly access it?

Also running the rear camera wire to the tail gate.. Instructions on taking off trim on the tail gate as to as neetly as possible wire the rear camera?

All help appreciated.

I located mine at the fuse box and ran it via a piggy back fused one of the switched live fuses (can’t remember which now and car long since gone).  The wires were run up the A-pillar (behind the trim) and fed in gently with a trim tool.  I then fed across the top of the screen and again with a trim tool pushed the wires out of sight behind the headlining.  At the mirror I used a clip stuck to the glass to stop the wires drooping and mounted the camera as high as possible and to the immediate left of the mirror such that the mirror could still be adjusted.  With me being 35cms taller than my wife, it needs to be fully adjustable.

I agree with this. You don't have to unclip the trim, the wire can easily be pushed under with a trim removal tool.
