Brand new Mk1 Octy VRS

Featured Replies

Hello to you all. I have posted a couple of times before, and now I've got my car, I thought I'd let you know. I managed to find an unregistered MK1 Octy VRS within the Skoda network. It's Black, has the ususal stuff plus parking sensors. It currently has 259 miles on the clock after two weeks of pottering around Scarborough. I love the car to bits and I am really pleased I bought it, even though the new one is out. It is miles better than most cars I have owned and even feels as nice to drive as my old 200sx did, (even with less power). Has anyone else heard of many MK1s on an 06 plate?

Cheers

Andrew.

Yours must be one of a very few that would be in Skoda's network and no I have not heard of anouther Mk1 on an 06 plate on here, seems that you may have a very unique car there!!.

If you hang around this forum too much you might find yourself spending a load more on mods & stuff, but welcome aboard anyway.

Welcome to Briskoda. :D

Thanks for the welcome. I'll be keeping things as standard for a while yet, my budget was blown on buying the car. If I can figure out how, I might post some pics, although you all know what a black Octy looks like anyway.

Did you get it at a bargain price? Not being nosey enough to want figures - just a simple yes or no ;)

Phil Wilkes Darlington had an unregistered Octy VRS in silver for £12995, but theres got be movement in that. Might still be there.

noticed marlborough had an unregistered octy 1 in showroom still the other week (might of gone by now??) but that'll be a nice buy for someone.

I don't mind saying how much I paid. In the end it was

Hmm, interesting...

I wanted a yellow Mk 1 vRS, but the dealer checked around and could only find two unregistered ones anywhere in the country - both silver! I couldn't wait for the 06 plate - I wanted mine NOW! (i.e. middle of February). Ho hum, it doesn't look like I have the last "real" vRS after all :(

Never mind - the Skoda grin :D is plastered over my face once more, and I got a reasonable deal (metallic silver paint and parking sensors free, plus a decent part exchange).

Just waiting to run it in a bit before checking out the next Jabbasport remap Group Buy ;)

p.s. Welcome to Briskoda

As I mentioned, only 260 miles on the clock, but it is so tempting to see what it can do. I've been up to four thousand revs, and only twice, but things seemed pretty fine to me. Hardly had to use the right foot for it to go like a rocket. The Skoda smile is definitely in place.

my dad got a mark 1 tdi estate about a month ago and could not be bothered to wiate for the 06. I have seen an 06 mark 1 tdi estate rolling about in the stockport area.

I'm sure there will be a few 06 MK1s on the roads, the dealer network must have a few more kicking around. I'd be interested to know if they have an idea themselves of how many there are still not registered. I was told that mine was 'The last in the country..." but I'm sure they tell everyone that. I'm on the lookout now to tally how many I see over the next few months.

I really need to get out a bit more I think........

on the running in side of things, remember to keep the revs and road speeds fairly varied... theres nothing wrong with jumping on the motorway and winding it up to 70 or 80mph then to potter about the A and B roads at various speeds.

1K miles should be enough but the engine wont be near to fully run in until about 10K miles... you should be able to "feel" the engine lossening up nicely and maybe even feel it pulling a little better as the miles stack up.

welcome to the site and happy motoring.

If anyone spots a brand new unregistered Mk1 PD130 L&K then let me know.

I'm trying to take things easy, following the handbook's instructions. There have been a few occasions, where it would have been nice to show a couple of other cars a clean set of heels, but self restraint fell into place just at the right time. If I keep below 5000 rpm, that should be okay shouldn't it?

I traded in a Citroen C2 GT for the Octavia (a good little car by the way) and had it from new. Your comment about things freeing up at 10000 miles is true, the Citroen perked up around that point. Can't wait to enjoy the Octy in full, after all that's why I bought it. (I told the missus it was because it has five doors and a big boot - ideal for our growing family).

To be honest, I'm really impressed so far, it is a great car for the money.

Thanks for the advice up to date.

I looked at a Mk1 Octy vRS, unregistered at Benfield Skoda in Harrogate, Silver, No extras for

Yep, so did I. In fact, I bought it, paid my deposit, sent off the V5 for my other car and a day later Benfields phoned me to say I couldn't have it! Some bloke had bought it an hour or so before me off the Skoda network system without them knowing, in Scotland.

So after a bit of heated debate, they found me a black one (the other last one in the country). I wasn't realy bothered about the colour, it was the principle of the thing. My wife even put the SOLD sign in the window of the silver one. To be told a day later that it wasn't ours put a bit of a downer on the proceedings. Now that I have one, the pain is a distant memory, until I have to wash the black one again...

I was told that the silver one was the last in the country, then they find you a black one...........Where abouts are you located.............Andy

Maybe the salesman - Bill Holland - sees Yorkshire as a country in its own right, he'd be correct then as my car eventually came from Milton Keynes. I don't know where it was stored as it wasn't too clean under the bonnet and the rain channels on the bodywork were full of crap when I picked it up. I wasn't too bothered though, it was just nice to get a car. I thought if I complained they might say that someone else had bought it from under me again.

I'm in Scarborough in case anyone else is nearby. I have seen a few Octys around, but you never know if they live round here or just popped over from West Yorkshire for an ice cream.

Cheers

Andrew.

Yorkshire as a country in its own right...... you never know if they live round here or just popped over from West Yorkshire for an ice cream.

Only if they remebered their passports ;)

The black car will give much more satisfaction when it comes to polishing the bodywork ;)

It does look great for the first five minutes after cleaning. Once I leave the drive and head out onto the open road things change. Also, living by the coast, the seagulls seem to have a thing against dark coloured cars. They single out my car and dive bomb it. No wonder they're known as ****e Hawks.

In the summer it'll stay great looking for much longer - an hour could be achieved easily ;)

You can always dream I guess. Cleaning is easier since I bought a blade & synthetic cloth to dry off the car. It takes half the time. Plus the Diamondbrite helps.
